Hollie, one of our fantastic sales consultants, experienced our ZBR tour recently. Here is her account of what she got up to on the road with Dragoman...   Rio de Janeiro to Buenos Aires (ZBR) This was to be my first time in South America and also my first group tour. I had previously done all of my travelling independently so I was unsure of what to expect on my first Drago adventure. It turned out to be a really exciting experience. Our group were a mixed bunch from across the globe who bonded very quickly. (Due to other travel…

Dara, our wanderlust-filled sales consultant got the opportunity to go on our Cairo to Khartoum (ZCK) trip earlier in May 2018. Wanting to visit Egypt ever since being a kid, Dara jumped at the chance to go on this overland adventure. Due to other commitments she joined the tour in Aswan and then travelled up through Egypt to finish the trip in Cairo.  Although she missed the mesmerizing Pyramids of Meroe and camping out under the desert stars in Sudan, she still got to spend time on a relaxing felucca cruise, visit the incredible Temple of Edfu, Karnak Temple and wonder…

Sinead has been on the road with us since December 2014, we asked a few probing questions about life on the road with Dragoman...     Why did you become Dragoman crew? I had been travelling for a while and couldn't get used to being back home and someone told me this would be the job for me. My sister did a Dragoman trip 11 years ago and even though I was too young to become crew at that time, I spent years planning my fantasy future trips until I was old enough to apply. The week of my 25th birthday,…

Overlanding is a truly unique way to travel! We often get asked what makes us different to other methods of seeing the world, one of them being our use of cookgroups.     When you step onto a Dragoman truck you'll see that there is a jobs list placed on the notice board with rotating "jobs" for the all passengers during their trip. Overlanding is a participatory method of travelling and you get out what you put into it, our tour leaders can't do everything for you and so jobs are allocated to the group such as truck cleaning, bag…

We like to be modest but our trucks are pretty iconic! Who can forget the swoosh of orange and white along the Atacama desert, unloading the kitchen equipment for a lunch stop just outside of Lalibela or waking up to the silouhette of the truck as you open your tent on a wildcamp in Kyrgyzstan. The Dragoman truck becomes a home-away-from-home for our passengers (and crew) and we often get questions about how they are designed and constructed. Our brand-spanking new truck, Tallulah is the first that we've built from scratch at our Suffolk based HQ. After several hundred workshop hours,…

Nathan, our intrepid design and marketing guru ventured into the forests of Uganda in search of the famous mountain gorillas. He takes us through some of the highlights of his awesome trip below! "Hell yes!" was my immediate response when I was asked if I wanted to join one of our tours heading out to Uganda to complete one of the world famous gorilla treks. I'd always heard about this ultimate wildlife experience but I'd never thought I'd get the chance to do it myself, but here I was standing at the visitors centre in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda, with our guide…

Jeroen (Dutchie) has been on the road with us since October 2015, we asked a few probing questions about life on the road with Dragoman...     Why did you become Dragoman crew? I had been travelling for a while and couldn't get used to being back home and someone told me this job would suit me. And it does!! What’s your favourite destination and why? Mongolia as I think it's still true overlanding there with lots of bush camps, river crossings, roads that you dont know where they go. I must say that Namibia is a close 2nd as the diversity in this country…

Our overland tours are a bit different to your "regular" group tour. Each one of our trips has been assigned a 'physical rating' out of 5, this is to help you to select the right trip for you.   To help clarify we've explained what each rating means below;   5 out of 5 The tour will contain longer periods of camping and will spend extended periods of time in challenging/changeable weather conditions/environments.   4 out of 5 More days spent camping than in hotels, with occasional periods in challenging environments/weather conditions.   3 out of 5 Mixture of hotels and camping during…
