Our Destination Manager, Helen, got to experience our new Kilimanjaro trek earlier on this year. Here's her story of her climb to success...   ‘Jambo’ calls one of the porters as he walks past, loaded up with bags and equipment, balanced perfectly on his head.   The mountain creates the major source of employment for people living in the towns surrounding Mt Kilimanjaro and the porters, cooks and guides that work here, make the most of it.  Around camp they joke, banter and dance around as they put up tents and prepare food, there’s a great atmosphere here.     Mt…

What's it really like to climb Mount Kilimanjaro? Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. The mountain is actually a dormant volcano which consists of three volcanic cones. The peak of Kilimanjaro is called Uhuru Peak and stands at 5,895m or 19,341 feet above sea level. The ascent is not considered to be a technically difficult ascent as no special climbing equipment is required but it can be a challenging ascent due to the rate that people make the climb. The longer that you take to ascend then the higher the probability you have…

Part of the excitement of travel is the anticipation of what’s to come but on a Dragoman trip there is the added expectation of meeting new friends in your group. We set up Dragoland as a way for everyone who has booked a trip to connect with fellow overlanders on their, and other trips. Dragoland is a closed community group on Facebook which is administered by us here back at Dragoman HQ in Camp Green. You have to be a past Dragoman passenger or someone who is booked and travelling with us in the future to be able to join…

Our ever-travelling sales consultant Hollie (below pic, right) was lucky enough to head out to this year's Rio Carnival in February and we've quizzed her on the finer points of her experience at the biggest party in the world... Which hotel did you stay in? We stayed in the Hotel Argentina (which is the hotel used for the Independent package) located in the chilled out Flamengo district. The rooms are nice and comfy and have AC, fridge and a safe which was handy. The best thing about the place is the incredible buffet breakfast they offer. Apparently this breakfast is legendary with Drago crew who…

There is a time and a place for a selfie, but when you're surrounded by amazing landscapes and nature at its very best then sometimes a picture of your own mug can take a backseat for a bit. Here are just a snippet of them, if you like stunning animal close-ups and seemingly endless scenery shots then this gallery is for you. Check out our favourites...    …

I realised I was never going to get to all of the places that I wanted to travel to unless I got involved in the tourism industry as I simply didn't get enough time off.  What’s your favourite destination and why? Difficult question! Argentina. It has everything except an accent I can understand. Good food, good wine, stunning mountains and…
