Anthony Palmer

Getting to know Anto Palmer, who has worked in tourism for a number of years ...

- What did you do for a living before becoming crew?

Tourism for a number of years, as well as PE / Primary School Teaching.

- Why did you become Dragoman crew?

After passing many of the orange trucks and awesome crew on the road, I wanted to be a part of the DragoFam!

- What's your favourite destination?

Antigua, Guatemala. A beautiful, small, colonial city surrounded by lush hills, coffee fincas and volcanoes.  The tourists here aren't your typical holiday makers, they are overlanders or backpackers, immersing themselves in a perfectly balanced mix of traditional mayan culture, latin colonial lifestyle and first world amenities.

- What has been your favourite or most memorable occasion on the road?

There are too many to mention, but my favourite times are always when our groups are faced with some adversity or difficult situation and pull together to overcome it. Escaping political violence in Nicaragua, preventing a passenger being arrested in Sudan, completing a tough W trek in Chile and of course...un-bogging the truck!

- What's the most essential item in your backpack?

A Great British passport. Wouldn't have left Manchester without it...

- What is your one piece of advice to future overlanders/passengers?

Men pee on the left because women are always right...

A bad day on the road is better than a good day in the office..
