Painted Dog Conservation - Zimbabwe

Painted Dogs are the most endangered animal in Africa, and Painted Dog Conservation works to protect the remaining 700 or so in Zimbabwe. They have anti-poaching units which patrol local areas daily, and they run outreach and education programs, as well as rehabilitation centres for injured and orphaned dogs. We visit one of these centres. The work they are doing is truly keeping the painted dog population from collapse.

Painted Dog Conservation employs more than 60 people from the local villages to run their conservation, education and outreach programs. These programs priotise community spirit, and help directly to improve the lives of local residents. They have also set up a Children's Bush camp, a Visitor Centre, collaborative art projects, conservation clubs, community gardens, and more.
