The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is one of Africa's oldest wildlife charities, and is one of the leading elephant rescue and rehabilitation efforts in the world. Established more than 40 years ago, they work across Kenya to secure safe havens for wildlife - not only elephants and rhino, but entire ecosystems of diverse flore and fauna. They also work to rescue orphaned animals and look after them until they can be released back where they belong, and have expanded into mobile vets, conservation and education work.
We visit this centre as one of our optional activities for any trip that starts or finishes in Nairobi.
