Foreign Travel Advice

There are few holidays for families to match an authentic African Safari, but the one that will surpass even the most luxurious safari is our Family Overland Adventure from Windhoek to Victoria Falls. Not only are the wildlife viewing opportunities quite superb with elephants, lions, hippo, rhino, and the rest, but also this is a journey through 3 of Africa's most interesting countries, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia. Camping with the kids surrounded by the noises of the African night is a wonderful experience; sitting around a camp fire, with Africa's huge skies above is epic; but add in the fun of quad biking through the desert, canoeing through the Okavango, or multiple wildlife safaris and you have an amazing journey, that no one in the family will ever forget.

Watch the sunrise over the Namib Desert from the top of Sossusvlei's Dune 45
Guided walk through the Namib Desert
Optional wild adventures of Swakopmund, quad biking, sandboarding, horseriding, scenic flights
Wild camp and hike in the stunning wild mountains of Spitzkoppe
Trek to Branderg White Lady cave painting
2 day overland safari through Etosha NP with excellent wildlife
Visit to the San Bushmen Village project near Grootfontein
Spot wildlife among the reeds and lillies from a canoe in the Okavango
2 days wilderness safari in Okavango delta
2 days of wildlife and a boat safari in Chobe NP

This is a full on trip, packed with excitement and action. There are great campsites and facilities to make life easy, and we have an African Camp Master to ease the chores of the camp kitchen. A brilliant trip to really push the families beyond the usual ski or summer holiday.

Visit the famous Dune 45 and explore the other-wordly landscapes of the Sossusvlei and the Dead Vlei salt pans

Guided walk through the landscapes of the Namib desert learning all about the delicate desert ecosystem

Visit the seal colony at Cape Cross

Walk to the Brandberg White Lady cave paintings

Overland safari through Etosha National Park with excellent wildlife

Magnificent ! A brief but brilliant insight into south west African culture and nature

Joy H

Staff and equipment very good, would overland with Dragoman in the future. We enjoyed the Chobe boat safari and the stay in the Okavango Delta the most.

Harriet M

Amazing guide, driver and cook who all made it so fabulous. Incredible route and very well organised.

Colin H

We loved the wildlife, the dark skies and stars. The Okavango Delta was magical. The visits to the SAN people and the village/school at Rundu

Sarah A

Enjoyed all of it!

Neale J

Dragoman is one of the few overland companies offering family trips. We enjoyed the family trip format and would like to do another family trip in South America. This would need to be sooner rather than later before the teenagers are no longer eligible.

Colleen G

Great tour for families. Good mix of people. Itinerary and food fantastic

Tilo M

Very well organized. lots of comfort for overland travel

Difficult to narrow it down, but especially enjoyed the Desert, Okavango Delta, Chobe
