Foreign Travel Advice

Perfect for those seeking an outdoor adventure, the countries of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are wild and rugged and home to some of the most striking mountain scenery and multi-hued lakes along the Silk Road. We'll drive across high mountain passes to remote villages and traditional communities and get a taste of the semi-nomadic lives of the local people.

Tajikistan is dominated by two mountain ranges, the Pamirs and the Fann Mountains, and this trip features a 3-day trek among the latter, where we'll wildcamp by the beautiful and iridescent Bibijant and Alaudin Lakes.

In towns like Osh and Khorog we'll explore well-stocked markets and bazaars and marvel at the range of spices and merchandise on offer.

Wildcamping in the remote lands near Toktogul Lake
Explore the city of Osh, Kyrgyzstan's most famous market town and oldest city dating back 3000 years.
Follow the famous Pamir Highway driving over the Kyzyl Art Pass at over 4200 metres it is one of the highest and most remote border crossings in the world.
Overland through to Tajikstan's spectacular Lake Karakul
Drive through the spectacular Pamirs to the famed Wakhan Corridor
Spend 4 days winding your way along the Panj River waving to villagers across the border in Afghanistan and enjoying the stunning mountain scenery.
Discover Khorog and its well stocked bazaars, visit the popular Pamir Botanical Gardens and enjoy a panoramic view of the city.
Wildcamping on the shores of stunning Iskanderkul Lake
3 days trekking and wild camping in the Fann Mountains

A physically challenging trip with some long drive days, wild camping, and long-distance trekking, often at high altitudes, but you'll be rewarded by the natural splendour of this predominantly mountainous country.
