On these trips our group size is a maximum of 16 travellers of all ages and nationalities. We use local transport to reach our destinations quickly and we stay in comfortable accommodation without any camping involved. These tours are meticulously planned to ensure you visit the highlights of the countries we travel through at a leisurely pace. Many of our small group tours visit hard to reach destinations where our itineraries are unique and not offered by any other tour operators. On every small group adventure tour with Dragoman you’ll visit all the must-see highlights in the region, be it the historic centre of Jeddah, the incredible ruins of Machu Picchu, the tranquil Zen Gardens of Kyoto, or the phenomenal Great Wall of China! However, most of our small group tours do also visit destinations well off the beaten path where we explore the real heart of the country and take part in activities that are unforgettable. You may stay as guests of local Kyrgyz families in their yurts, trek through dense Ugandan jungle in search of endangered mountain gorillas, or meet traditional tribes living in the sands of Namibia. For many of our travellers these unique experiences are often the most memorable parts of their tour and are simply life-changing.
SHARED GROUP EXPERIENCES
Travelling on a Dragoman small group tour is all about sharing a great experience with like-minded people and your companions are as much part of the adventure as the areas you are travelling through. Our groups often have people of many different ages and nationalities with a broad-minded attitude to the world around them. Many of our passengers are solo travellers who want to enjoy the benefits of small group travel as well as have the freedom to be alone whenever they like. Lifelong friendships are forged on these journeys.
BE AS ACTIVE AS YOU WANT TO BE
These are not just sightseeing tours, there are many different activities for you to enjoy along the way. For instance, one day you may be trekking through the Andes, the next learning to cook in a Quechuan village, and the next white-water rafting in the Sacred Valley. Should you prefer not to take part in any activities that is absolutely fine, many of our travellers just enjoy the relaxation aspect to our small group tours. Our itineraries are designed for you to have the free time to be as active or inactive as you like.
LOCAL INTERACTION AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
We always try to involve the local communities on our small group tours. You might find yourself staying in a traditional Quechua village in Peru, learning to cook Indian food in Darjeeling, riding horses with Kyrgyz shepherds or helping out at a school in Ghana. Along with planned local community activities there will also always be opportunities for you to freely meet the locals on all of our trips.
OUR CREW
You will have a crew of at least 1 Dragoman tour leader on all our small group tours. Our well trained tour leaders are passionate about travel and will ensure your journey is both safe and enjoyable.
Your tour leader will be in charge of routes, itineraries and accommodation and will ensure the smooth running of the tour.
Your tour leader will arrange local guides to give you the history of the important historic sites that we visit along the way.
On some tours we may also have a cameraman who is there to help market our tours and update our social media.
ACCOMMODATION
On our small group adventure tours we stay at 3, 4 & 5 star hotels, local guest houses and sometimes in traditional homestays such as ryokans in Japan and yurts in Kyrgyzstan.
On some tours we stay overnight on ferries or boats where accommodation is provided in private cabins.
All accommodation is provided on a twin share basis so if you are travelling alone be prepared to share your room with another member of the tour, male or female. Your tour leader will always strive to put you in a room with a suitable partner. Couples can request a room with a double bed.
A single supplement payment is available for those not wishing to share accommodation.
TRANSPORT
We use a mixture of transport on our small group tours including local trains, buses, flights and ferries. Sometimes we travel in private buses, jeeps and boats to reach off the beaten track destinations. Your comfort and safety is our priority so we always ensure our transport is of a high standard with modern amenities.
